James is an aspiring army hero/ pilot/ explorer/ rescue hero and needless to say, very into weaponry and basically anything that hints of violence. Karate is a newer interest and just the other morning he karate chopped the armoire and seemed surprised when it didn't splinter. It could have been sitcom-like except for the tears of pain that welled up in his eyes. Today was another humorous moment. While drawing one of his “pistols” James noticed some very small lettering on the butt of the gun. He hurried over to me and asked what it read.
“Made in China 145-45b,” I read aloud.
Oh, the look on his face, the awe in his eyes.
Running to his sister, James exclaimed, “Daphne, this was made in CHINA! I can’t believe this is from China! Daphne, Kung Foo is from China too! China, I can’t believe it!”
Innocence is wonderful.

That is so funny! I bet his poor hand really hurt after the karate chop... I swear that is a picture of Doug laying in the sand. He looks just like his dad!
I love it! Awe...to be so innocent again. I guess we get to relieve innocence through our kids though.
So awesome.
I think your kids are great! I would be happy to have them come visit again. We just won't be visiting that particular beach. James is a great kid, although he's a bit of an enigma to me because he's so quiet. Kind of the strong, silent type. I know stuff is going on in his head, I just don't know what. Where was that last picture taken?
Welcome back! What a funny and insightful little picture of J. I agree with Katie the last picture looks like his Dad! Fun post. Love ya!
That's great! Are you back to the Blogging world?
lol, that made my night. Oh to be kid again.
I see you finally relented to toy guns in the house:-) after all the ones James built and pretended were real... I miss you guys:-)
Oh, I love it! Heather, the next step is to bring your lovely family TO China!!!! Miss you and think of you more than you'd believe. Annabelle still plays with the baby quilt you made her. Her doll, Julie, is wrapped in it as we speak :)
Wonderful indeed! Karate is great exercise and learned discipline for kids! Is James in the top photo shooting? (Not making any statement about what to shoot at but) Shooting is also a good mental-motor task.

Love it! That last picture is so eloquent.
Just stopping by to say thanks for your comment on my blog the other day. I'm glad I have a kindred spirit out there!!
